Daniel Krysak
Daniel Krysak is a mission operations specialist at Malin Space Science Systems (MSSS) in San Diego. He received his M.S. in Planetary Volcanology from the University at Buffalo in 2011 under Dr. Tracy Gregg. He has been working in the spacecraft operations field since 2012 where he joined the Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity rover team at MSSS during the cruise phase, and which he still works on today. In 2015, Daniel branched further out into the solar system when he added operations and Ground Data System (GDS) development on the JunoCam instrument on the Juno Mission to Jupiter. For both missions, he also helps prepare and generate the datasets for NASA’s Planetary Data System. On the Mars 2020 Perseverance rover, he will be working on operations for the Mastcam-Z and WATSON cameras and is helping write the GDS and database for tracking Mastcam-Z sequences as well as the GDS and database for sequencing and image tracking on the WATSON camera.
